Yes, zero alcohol, taste equivalent to a number of the mass-produced Lion/Carlton beers (ho-hum) but ideal for hot sunny days when you’re the designated driver

Lime upfront, ginger and a spicy heat that lingers at the back. Clean and fresh and an excellent light beer alternative.

Tasted Jul-Aug 2022

Molly Rose Radler Very Mandarin Lager 2.8%

Lager

The warning on the side of the can gives a clue ‘Contains mandarin’. That’s about it for this lager, although it’s refreshing and a good summer outdoors option

Kviek/Traditional

Passionfruit, guava, kiwi fruit, fresh, low bitterness - perhaps not to everyone’s taste

Moon Dog Tall Can Of Pilsner 6% 35 IBU

Pilsner

West Coast style and dry-hopped cross between the bitterness of an IPA and the crispness of a lager. A new hop from NZ, apparently, and this may be responsible for the smoky, roasted chestnut at the back. Orange rind and generous citrus flavours complete this quite different Pilsner

Tasted Nov 23-Apr 24

Oettinger Pils (Germany) 4.7%

Pilsner

The brewer has been going nearly 300 years. Clearly a huge base of old-school beer heads around considering the array of craft & modern styles available that consign this to the history books. Think Heineken for style

Tasted Jan-Jun 2021

Small and Freeman Good Evening Pils 5.4% IBU 31

Pilsner

Bitterness appears to belie the IBU score since there’s a lingering roof of the mouth and back-palate soft wheat, pepper spice, mid-malt, crisp and dry finish. OK again from these aspiring Brewers

Tasted Nov 23-Apr 24

Small and Freeman Unlabelled Rice Lager 5.3% 21 IBU

Carringbush notes ‘double dry hopped Indian Pale Lager’, passionfruit and kiwi fruit nose, passionfruit follows through with grapefruit and lemon rind adding bitterness to a malt backbone. Very little that’s old-school ´lager’ other than the crisp, fresh mouthfeel. Celebrate all things Women
